The predictions have come true--we are quite cold here. We had -25
degree windchill all day and it is about -5 degrees (real temp) right
now. A little bit of a shock to the system, but great weather for
growing feathery frost crystals if you can find a place where warm
air is coming up from the earth. I found such a place at an inlet
tile that is in the grove.
It is difficult to get all the crystals in focus since they are on so
many different planes, but it is always fun to try.

I tucked the camera under my parka and only took it out for about 2
minutes at a time while I was taking pictures.

Sometimes I feel like the "pickings" are getting thin out there for
new and exciting photos--but I keep trying. There are probably all
kinds of things available--just waiting to have its picture taken--
hopefully, I'm able to find a few of them. Every little bit of color
is greatly appreciated right now in these winter months.

I was taking pictures of another squirrel when I noticed this one in
the tree. It was kind of curled around a little broken off branch on
the tree. At first I thought that maybe it was sick or hurt,
but..........

......it then looked over at me, allowed me to take some more
pictures of it, and finally came down from the tree and scampered
away into the woods. I don't know if it was just resting or what it
was doing. It seemed perfectly fine once it came down from the tree.

I don't know what you see in these ice chunks, but I see the head of
a duck peeking out.
